Limestone is a sedimentary rock primarily composed of the minerals calcite and aragonite, which are different crystalline forms of calcium carbonate (CaCO₃). It accounts for roughly 10% of all sedimentary rocks by volume. Limestone bedrock is also the foundation for most natural cave systems.
